CS-Summer School Leaflet for DownloadThis year, Centre Stage is really excited to offer a unique summer camp experience for 6 to 13 year olds.
Fill the holidays with five days of industry professional led workshops as Centre Stage offers individual days with artist led activities (singing, dancing and acting), tailored to the appropriate age groups (Juniors 6-8 & Seniors 9-13).
Each day is themed with a guest expert running workshops, so you can pick and choose your days without committing to the whole week. Meet new friends with similar interests, experience dynamic workshops by visiting professionals, learn new skills and – most of all – HAVE FUN!

THE WORKSHOPS
Acting for Camera
Acting for camera requires a subtle approach when compared to stage performance and Musical Theatre. This workshop will help students to focus on naturalistic skill – working with acting techniques, scripts and the chance to perform in front of a camera.

African
A high energy dance workshop in an upbeat and friendly environment. Learn the traditional West African dance techniques as well as grooving to afro beats. Be ready for fun, sweat and cheers!

Audition Technique
A workshop focused on giving students expert advice on audition technique, preparation and mental approach. Excellent for confi dence and self-esteem building! Workshop will end in a fun audition with prizes for all!

Bob Fosse
If you love to fi nger click, hip roll and dance to the beat, then welcome to the world of Fosse! Students will learn the unique, isolated, sensual style of jazz and create movements and patterns to an upbeat current song. This is a defi nite fast paced, fun dance style to learn!

Bollywood
Capture your children’s imagination with our Bollywood workshop. Popular with both boys and girls, this high energy and expressive form of dance is suitable for children of all abilities. Your children will be enchanted by the graceful movements used in traditional Indian dances, and thrilled by the upbeat, modern Bollywood style of dance.

Broadway Spectacular
A masterclass on the dance of Broadway. Think high kicks, glittery costumes and big smiles. It is a fun filled master class, learning new skills and gaining confidence.

Clowning
Clowning is a fun and challenging art form – it requires wit, physical skill, comic timing and human understanding. This workshop introduces students to basic clowning techniques and exercises, structured to be inclusive and enjoyable for all levels.

Contemporary Dance
A dance master class focusing on contemporary dance art form. Learning contact exercises and short phrases using elaborative material – expressive and stylized and excellent for strength and coordination.

DDMIX Warm-Ups
DDMIX (Diverse Dance Mix) is a new dance based exercise programme, created by Darcey Bussell, to get you moving and active whilst experiencing a broad range of dancing cultures from around the world such as Flamenco, Greek, Bollywood and much more!

Glee-tastic
A high-energy session where the students create a Centre Stage “Show Choir” and learn and stage a song from the hit TV show ‘Glee’.

Gospel Soul Singing
A chance to explore the uplifting style of Gospel music in a fun, fast-paced group workshop. Learning how to work together as a choir “Sister Act” style! Explore elements of gospel singing, such as call and response, harmonies and improvisation! |
Irish Dance
A fun introduction to Irish dancing – a unique style popularised by Riverdance.

Movie Magic
Learn songs from the best movies of all time – explore music from High School Musical, Sound of Music, Rocky, Grease, Oliver to name a few! Explore performance technique and theatrical performance required for the screen!

Pitch-Perfect
Come and join this “aca-mazing” workshop, inspired by the film Pitch Perfect. Sing in close harmony, use your voice to create different styles and instruments, and put together an incredible A Capella medley. (Cups will be provided…!)

Pop Idols
Ever wanted to perform like your favourite pop stars? Here’s your chance! Learn songs by some of the biggest artists in the charts and explore mic technique, vocal skills, and how to interpret a song in your own unique style. There will also be a chance to work in small groups to create the ultimate pop performance by the end of the session! |
Scripted Performance
This workshop introduces students to a wide range of performance skills that are essential for professional actors. Including sight-reading, stage direction, projection and characterisation, students will be using a theatre scripts to hone their rehearsal and performance skills.

Sit-Coms
After warming-up with spontaneous improvisation and group dynamics, we will use ‘Outnumbered’ as a template, to create some characters with a simple back-history, quirks and relationship links. In addition, we’ll play with the Mike Leigh improvise, develop and create method to enable everybody to develop successful, three dimensional characters with lively, natural interaction. |
Street/Break Dance
Upbeat and energized workshop, exploring the foundations of break dance and street! Styles such as – popping, locking, hip-hop and house will be learnt, ending in a diverse routine!

Theatre Make-Up
Hands on workshop teaching the art of animal make-up, ageing make-up and stage make-up. Speedy applications for quick changes in the industry will also be explored.

The Voice
An exciting workshop, based on the TV hit show! Students will explore their voices, singing to a broad repertoire of songs; with a sitting panel of ‘student judges’. Students will learn how to identify parts of the voice and the performance quality they create.
